The Ontario Family Practice Nurses (OFPN) is an interest group of Family Practice/Primary Care Nurses (RNs and RPNs) across Ontario. OFPN is an Associated Interest Group of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)*.
To promote and support the professional role of the Registered Nurse in Family Practice
Our objectives are:
We have an elected executive, which at present consists of President, Past President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Communications Director (who handles website and newsletter), Membership Director, and Member at Large. At present, there is one area Chapter in Ottawa. Every 2 years we hold a Biennial General Meeting (BGM) and Conference.
In the early 1980s the late Terry O’Neil, BScN and her colleagues in London, Ontario brought together Family Practice Nurses to create a forum to network professionally and to organize educational opportunities. OFPN was organized in 1991 and our constitution was passed in 1992. In 1996, we became an Associated Interest Group of RNAO.
